The Stand

The original Farm Stand was a small garage. In 2002 the garage was relocated to serve as a camp near the pond and a new stand was built. We grow a succession of vegetables during the growing season in an effort to have a consistent supply of fresh vegetables for your table. Vegetables are harvested several times daily and are quickly cooled on the refrigerated display cases or walk-in cooler.

Organic produce is available at the stand from fellow Maine Highlands Farmer Jason Kafka of Checkerberry Farm. Apples, berries, and other farm products from local Maine Highlands Farms can also be found at The Stand.

The Stand opens in June with the first greens of the season; beet greens, lettuces, spinach, swiss chard, and peas. Strawberries are available by the quart. Pick your own strawberries start at this time . Containers are available for picking. Call ahead for availability and picking times.

July finds string beans, wax beans, summer squash, zucchini, beets, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and fresh herbs available. Varieties of new potatos available are Red Norlands, Superior, and Yukon Gold. Blackberries and raspberries can be found by the pint and quart. Limited pick your own raspberries are also at this time.

August typically means our bi-color corn is ready to harvest! You will also find blueberries, tomatos, peppers, watermelons, and squash- buttercup, hubbard, and butternut in The Stand.

Special orders taken during the summer for canning and freezing needs are usually filled in September. Canning and freezing specials on 20 pound boxes of tomatos and cucumbers are ready. Potatos in 5, 10, 20, and 50 pound bags are found in The Stand. Apples, brussel sprouts, and pumpkins are readily available at this time. Pumpkin varieties include cooking, jack-o-lantern, and painting pumpkins. Pick your own pumpkins are ready now. Gourds, indian corn, and corn stalks are available for harvest decorations. New for 2006 will be late varieties of strawberries and raspberries available by the pint and quart.

October to mid-November finds pick your own pumpkins, specials on onions, potatos, and root crops such as turnips. Tomatos and cucumbers will be available in the greenhouse.

The Stand hours are 7 days a week, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Stutzman's Farm Bakery

In 2002 when the new farm stand was constructed a bakery was also added. Everything is made fresh daily from scratch, 'just like Grandma used to make'. We use our own fruit for the pies, assorted pastries, jams, and jellies. Even the beans for our baked beans are locally grown!

Oatmeal, challah, and white bread are available daily by the half or full loaf. We're famous for our fresh strawberry bread. Pies include strawberry rhubarb, raspberry, blueberry, apple, and fruit medley. Our assorted pastries include jumbo whoppee pies and jumbo molasses or chocolate chip cookies. Jams and jellies are available year round. Varieties include raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, berry medley, and apple pie jam. Our newest jam, is pepper jam, made using our own hungarian hot peppers. Pickles by the pint include bread and butter, dill, and zucchini relish.
