Adopt a "Senior" Farm Share

Each year the Maine Department of Agriculture coordinates its Senior Farm Share Program whereby eligible Senior Citizens are able to purchase $50 of locally grown fresh produce. The number of eligible seniors far out number the financial resources available from the state. Stutzman's Farm enrolls more than 500 Seniors a year in the Farm Share Program. Realizing that state funding was not going to be able to include all of the senior citizens on their waiting list, the Stutzman's began enlisting the support of local businesses, organizations, and community members to raise funds. In 2009 private donations added an additional 80 Seniors to the Stutzman's Senior Farm Share Program. Currently there is a waiting list. For more information on how your business, organization, or family can help fund this worthwhile program please call Sid or Rainey at the farm. (207) 564-8596

School Pumpkin Patch Tour

For the past 10 years Stutzman's Farm has hosted area school children on a field trip to the farm. Besides giving the children an opportunity to see how a farm works each child can pick out their own pumpkin . As Sid and Rainey say, "If you can get the pumpkin out of the field and onto the bus on your own, the pumpkin is yours!" Schools desiring information on this program should call the farm. Soil and Conservation Camp Farm Visit

Area children participating in the Piscataquis County Soil and Conservation Camp spent a day on the farm July 11th, 2006. The children will had a tour of the farm to see how it operates on a daily basis. They walked the fields to see the various crops growing and toured the farm stand, greenhouse, and potato house. The children also had the opportunity to pick and sample peas and strawberries.

Fall Festival Activities

Starting in mid September we will be holding weekend events at the farm. The U-Pick Pumpkin Patch will feature a "Where's Huddy?" game. Children who find a pumpkin with a picture of our farm mascot, Huddy on the bottom will be awarded a prize at The Stand. New this year will be Pumpkin Chucking! Over the winter Sid built a pumpkin catapult, also known as a trebuchet. We can't wait to try it out! Come join us for tons of Fall Fun!
