Adopt a "Senior" Farm Share
Each year the Maine Department of Agriculture coordinates
its Senior Farm Share Progra
m whereby
eligible Senior Citizens are able
to purchase $50 of locally grown fresh produce. The number of eligible
seniors far out number the financial resources available from the
state. Stutzman's Farm enrolls more than 400 Seniors a year in the Farm Share
Program. Realizing that state funding was not going to be able to
include all of the senior citizens on their waiting list, the
Stutzman's began enlisting the support of local businesses,
organizations, and community members to raise funds. In 2005 private
donations added an additional 50 Seniors to the Stutzman's Senior Farm Share
Program.
Currently there is a
waiting
list. For more information on how
your business, organization,
or family can help fund this worthwhile program please call Sid or
Rainey at the farm. (207) 564-8596

Sid's 4th Annual Berry Festival
Sid and Rainey
invite old friends and new to join them down by the farm pond on July 12th for Sid's 4th Annual Berry Festival. The meal is a
traditional BBQ cookout topped with Stutzman's Farm's own delicious
Berry Shortcakes. This year the festival will
feature "The Burnham Boys", a "rock a billy" delight that combines the
styles of great artists like Johnny Cash with lightning fast "chicken
Picken" guitar, and a humorous stage presence. Tickets are available at the Farm Stand. All proceeds go to
sponsor the "Adopt a Senior Program" at Stutzman's Farm, to help provide fresh fruits and veggies
to qualifying Senior citizens. If you have any questions please call 564-8596. See you at Festival 2008!
School Pumpkin Patch Tour
For the past 10 years Stutzman's Farm has hosted area
school children on a field trip to the farm. Besides giving the
children an opportunity to see how a farm works each child can pick out
their own pumpkin . As Sid and Rainey say, "If you can get the pumpkin
out of the field and onto the bus on your own, the pumpkin is yours!"
Schools desiring information on this program should call the farm. (207) 564-8596
