From Sun Up to Sun Down
Today, once again Shaw Road Farm is a 200 acre, family run farm. Since
1995 a laying flock of 100 free range chickens have provided
fresh eggs in an assortment of sizes and colors. Breeds include, araucauna, the
green egg layers, barred
rocks, white leg horns, light brahman,
cochins, buff orpingtons, and black astrolorps to name a few.
Natural,
pasture fed beef is available. Young calves are purchased in the spring
and raised throughout the summer on pasture using rotational field grazing. The young beef stock can
be purchased whole or by the half or quarter in the fall. Pasturing your beef for the summer is also available.
Year round
horse boarding facilities with access to 40 acres of lush pasture is
available.
The farm also has an outdoor riding arena as well as 5 miles of trails
for walking or riding.
The gardens are farmed organically with only natural products as soil
enhancements. No sprays are used on the farm. Bee keeping started as a hobby for Karen and has slowly grown into a
business.
Timber stand improvement, land clearing, bush hogging, and rototilling services are
available. Please contact us directly for more infomation. Our fresh
eggs can be purchased from Bob's Home and Garden
in Dover-Foxcroft and fresh garden produce can be purchased at the farm
when available.
