Mapleshade Farm Programs

While we find great joy and satisfaction in the daily upkeep and care of the animals and greenhouse we feel it is important to extend our knowledge of farming and animal husbandry to the community. Over the years we have created numerous outreach programs which allow area youth and adults to experience farm life and agriculture firsthand.

Christmas Wreath Class-
This year create a new family tradition and learn how to make your very own Christmas wreath at Mapleshade Farm. Come and enjoy the warmth of the holiday sseason with family and friends as you learn the tradition of Christmas wreath making. Enjoy holiday music and refreshments. Materials and hands on instruction will be supplied to make one Traditional Christmas Wreath complete with your choice of pre-made red or burgundy bow, berries, and pinecones. Our class fee is $25.00 per wreath (maximum of 2 people working on a wreath).
Kids for Kids- Program is geared towards youths and is an hour long presentation for library, school, and day care groups. This program is great for larger groups of children and allows them to handle and pet and maybe even feed baby and adult goats. We cover basic goat topics including breeds of goats, terminology and feeding, and allot time

for a question an answer session.

Goat Herder 101- Program is geared towards families and individuals considering getting into small scale goat farming. This 5 hour course covers topics including getting your goat, feeding and nutrition, herd health management and housing and fencing.

Mapleshade Adventure- Programs are suitable for Girl or Boy Scout Troops or small Daycare or School groups. This program allows children and their parents to spend a morning on the farm interacting with all of the farm animals and creating a craft at the end of their visit to commemorate their experience.
