The Maine Highlands Farmers

Who Are We?

Purpose

The purpose of the Maine Highlands Farmers organization is to promote locally grown and raised products in the communities located in the Maine Highlands region of Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Somerset Counties. We actively seek to identify and develop new markets to enhance farmer to community relationships and increase farm revenues. Monthly meetings offer educational opportunities for area farmers to learn about rules and regulations, marketing strategies, expanding value added products, and business growth and development.

Meetings

Meetings are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7pm at the Piscataquis County Extension Office, 165 Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Summer meetings are held at various Maine Highlands Farmers member's residences in order to share our farming experiences. Meeting location and dates and guest speakers are posted in the Piscataquis Farming Newsletter available from the Piscataquis County Extension Office. All meetings are open to any interested individuals. Membership is not required for attendance.
